Valentino Rossi the most victorious

Valentino Rossi is the rider who has won the most races ever at the Catalunya GP. Looking at the roll of honour, his name is present in ten boxes and in four different categories. His first success dates back to 1997 in the 125 class. In the following two years he won in 250. In 2001 he climbed to the top step of the podium in the 500 class race and then won six times in MotoGP, the last in 2016.

However, other Italian drivers also distinguished themselves in Montmelò. Andrea Iannone won both with the 125 and with the Moto2, while Andrea Dovizioso in the 250 and in MotoGP. The other Italians who have written their names in the roll of honor are: Simone Sanna, Lucio Cecchinello, Marco Melandri, Loris Capirossi, Marco Simoncelli, Mattia Pasini, Enea Bastianini, Luca Marini and Celestino Vietti. In MotoGP at Montmelò the last victory by an Italian rider dates back to 2017, when Andrea Dovizioso won. A separate chapter for MotoE with the victories of Andrea Mantovani and Mattia Casadei in 2023.

In addition to Valentino Rossi, another rider who has won often is Jorge Lorenzo: six grand prix, one in 250 and five in MotoGP. From 2010 onwards the home riders have often dominated the various classes. Among those who have won the grand prix several times are also the Marquez brothers with three victories each in the various categories. Among the drivers who wrote their name in the roll of honor was also the late Luis Salom who lost his life on the same track in 2016.
