LBA Playoff – Milan is the second semi-finalist: Trento defeated 69-87

L’Olimpia Milan is the second semi-finalist of the LBA playoffs. In fact, the Milanese ended the series against Trento by winning 69-87 Race 4 and closing the accounts on 3-1. The next obstacle for Milan is the Germani Brescia.

EA7 Emporio Armani Milano also wins Game 4 on the Dolomiti Energia Trentino pitch and enters the semi-final of the LBA Playoff UnipolSai 2024 in which they will face Germani Brescia. Balanced start to the game, with Hommes, Baldwin (15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists) and Biligha (9 points) surprising the opposing defense while the individual plays of Tonut (9 points), Mirotic (7 points) and Hall (8 points) put Olimpia back ahead (6-7). After a comfortable support made by Melli (13 points, 10 rebounds, 22 evaluation), Alviti (15 points and 5 rebounds) and Napier (14 points) exchange comfortable triples and the number 13 tries to launch the Olimpia attack on the counterattack at +5. With the flashes of Alviti and Ellis on the two halves of the court, as well as with a spectacular alley-oop between Hubb (9 points and 4 rebounds) and Cooke Jr. (8 points and 7 rebounds), Dolomiti Energia also manages to overtake their opponents , before a bomb from Napier and a recovery from Flaccadori (7 points) re-established Olimpia’s lead (15-19). At the end of the quarter, Alviti and especially Hubb exploited their athleticism both at the rim and from the arc, thus putting their team back in the lead against Voigtmann (10 points and 4 rebounds) and his teammates (22-21 after 10′). Thanks to the muscles of Voigtmann and Ricci (9 points) and a nice triple from Hall, EA7 Emporio Armani tries to push the accelerator again but an excellent Alviti, both at the rim and as assistman for the shooter Baldwin, and a Mooney’s jumper allows yet another overtaking in the match (29-28). Then once again taking advantage of the rebounding presence in attack of Melli and Voigtmann and above all the accelerations of Napier, Milan then placed a break of 0-8 interrupted only by Hommes’ assist for Cooke Jr.’s comfortable dunk (31-36). At the end of the half, Hines scores the hook for -7 and then Mooney scores the free throw that closes the opening 20 minutes of the game (32-38).

A beautiful triple from Melli and a great three-point play from Hall immediately push EA7 Emporio Armani into a double-digit lead, before a triple from Baldwin and a comfortable dunk from Biligha try to keep the hosts in the wake of Tonut and companions (39-47). With a super basket from the low post by Mirotic and an incursion by Flaccadori, Milan definitely takes off and then both Ricci from the arc and the Voigtmann – Hines axis in the paint make Olimpia fly even to +23. The free throws scored by Hommes close the long break of 0-15 in favor of the guests but Tonut in penetration and Voigtmann at the rim seal the super third quarter for the red and whites with a score of 43-66. In the final period, the incursions of Ellis and Baldwin still try to make the deficit less bitter for the Bianconeri but the baskets of the versatile Melli and Voigtmann and the free throws of Napier close the contest well in advance, bringing the Bianconeri’s lead to +23. Finally, thanks to the proud Alviti and Cooke Jr., Dolomiti Energia shortens the gap and closes at 69-87.
