The focus in question concerns the market and has its origins in the “promised farewell” of Adrian Newey to Red Bull. The British engineer, father of the cars produced in Milton Keynes since 2006, will leave the world champion team in the first quarter of next year. His name, needless to say, he ended up in Ferrari’s sightswhich has been busy for a few months now in the search for high profile profiles that can bring a plus to the Scuderia’s technical department.

The leaders of the Rossa are in constant contact with the entourage of the “aerodynamic genius” and Frederic Vasseur met Newey personally a few weeks ago in London. According to recent rumours, the marriage between the Maranello team and one of the most coveted men in the paddock could soon materialize in white smoke. In these hours, however, there is a rumor that refers to a possible interference by another Formula 1 team, historically a rival of Ferrari: we are referring to the Mercedes.
According to colleagues from ‘Auto Motor Und Sport’, the Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, is in fact trying at the last minute to snatch the 65-year-old British engineer from Ferrari. “In Miami there were rumors that Mercedes had attempted a cautious rapprochement with Newey“, write the German colleagues. The latter, however, at the same time report that it is very likely that the attempt made by the Viennese manager could prove in vain: “Maybe it’s too late. The designer’s talks with Ferrari are in fact at an advanced stage“.
We’ll see. Meanwhile, we remind you, last week the Prancing Horse formalized the arrival of two engineers from Mercedes: Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio. It cannot be ruled out that what the Brackley team advanced is a retaliation to take revenge for the robbery suffered.
