Change at the wall
There will be one small-big news within the Red Bull team during FP1 of the Emilia Romagna GP, which will open the weekend in Imola. The three-time world champion In fact, Max Verstappen will be followed by a different race engineer compared to the ‘usual’ Gianpiero Lambiase, very close to the Dutchman by a professional and friendly relationship that has been going on since the ’97 class member joined Red Bull in 2016.

In the first free practice session the #1 of the world champion team will be followed to the wall by Tom Hart, who has been Performance Engineer of the Austrian team since January 2020. This is not the first time ever that Lambiase has not closely followed a Verstappen track session: the same had in fact already happened last year in the Abu Dhabi GP.
Collective learning process
The reason for this ‘exchange’ is simple: In this way, Red Bull intends to help different engineers grow and improve in different roles, encouraging greater discussion and exchange of information also with the pilots. The prediction is that something similar could happen in other European races in the near future. Lambiase will then return to occupy his usual role starting from FP2 and will keep it for the rest of the Italian weekend.
