The news we are telling you about today does not come from Italy, but in any case from a country very close to ours. We are talking about Spain, which has authorized motorbikes to proceed on the emergency lane on the motorway.
This decision was made by the Spanish General Directorate of Traffic, which has launched a series of changes to be introduced into the highway code starting from 2025. This means that the provision will only be active from next year, and until the 31st of December, the old rules will remain valid, which prohibit passage on the emergency lane.
However, from next year things will change, even if the centaurs will not be able to move on the aforementioned lane at will, but will have to do so by respecting some rules.
First of all, it should be emphasized that it will only be possible in cases of heavy traffic, and the maximum speed of 30 km/h can never be exceededand we assure you that in Spain the speed limits have very strict controls, so we advise you not to be smart.
Furthermore, those traveling by motorbike will have the obligation to give priority to emergency vehicles in transit, which obviously have no speed limit constraints to respect. As mentioned, the innovation will come into effect in 2025, reminding you that in Italy transit on the emergency lane remains strictly prohibited, with fines starting from 430 euros up to a maximum of 1,731 euros, plus 10 points on the license and possible suspension of the same.
