I will still be critical of the Race Direction – rossomotori.it

After the two episodes that saw him involved on Sunday at Le Mans, Aleix Espargarò returns to criticize the Race Direction.

After a disappointing ninth place collected on Le Mans Sunday, Aleix Espargarò is critical of the Race Direction. According to the Spaniard, in fact, the stewards should have sanctioned certain behaviors in his opinion incorrect. In particular, Espargarò refers to the two episodes in which he was involved together with Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli.

Aleix Espargarò not happy with Race Direction

After the race on Sunday in France, Aleix Espargarò gave his voice frustration towards the stewards to the microphones of Motorsport.com. The Spaniard, who is no stranger to this type of consideration, cannot explain how certain episodes occurred during the race may have gone unpunished. In particular, the pilot of Aprilia Racing refers to his own clashes on the track with Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli, which happened on the seventh and last lap respectively.

These are Aleix’s words regarding the two episodes that occurred on the track:

“The pace was good enough to finish the race in top 5but Enea hit me at a very very high speed, luckily there was an asphalted area outside. I don’t understand why he wasn’t penalized because of this. I I wasted a lot of time behind Di Giannantonio and Quartararo. I overtook them on a couple of occasions but they overtook me again. Then, at the last chicane, Franco [Morbidelli] you hit me very strong and I was also overtaken by Binder. He apologized after the checkered flag but again they didn’t penalize him.”

Espargarò’s feeling is that Race Direction is giving penalties only in case of a fall of at least one of the pilots involved, rather than sanctioning the danger of the move:

“With Enea I had to pick up the bike, everything happened very quickly and even with Franco, if I hadn’t picked up the bike I would have fallen. So my feeling is that they only give penalties if someone falls. But the action must be penalized, not the result. With Enea, if I had held my line we would both have fallen, we were going very fast and I saw the replay.”
