The dream continues. Having beaten Nole Djokovic, the world number 1, in the third round, leaving him just five games, it is as if he had magically unlocked it. The 26-year-old Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, beating the Chinese Zhizhen Zhang 6-3 6-4 in an hour and 26′, reaches the semi-final here in Rome, and it is the first for him in a 1000 tournament. Now he is awaited by the winner of the match between Zverev and Fritz to try to go where he would never have thought. Meanwhile, with this victory he is currently number 25 at ATP, best ranking.
the turning point

2024 has so far been more than generous to the Chilean: first ATP title in Auckland, final in the home tournament in Santiago, victory at the Super-Challenger in Aix-en-Provence, and now the semi-final in the 1000 in Rome. Truly a dream for this Chilean born in Canada, in Toronto, to father Ricardo and mother Maria, two Chileans who met in Ontario. “It’s all incredible – he said after the success that took him to the semi-final -, it’s really hard to believe all this. I thank the public, they were very nice to me”.
