First, an eye on the attack, with the purchase of the Swiss spiker (born in California) Laura Kunzler, then the armor of the defense: as expected in recent days the role of libero of the new one UYBA will be in the hands of the young and promising Federica Pelloni (top photo: Offanengo Volley).
The (re)nascent Busto Arsizio by Giovanni Caprara continues his training adding two players who will be among the most important pieces of the 2024-25 red and white chessboard. Kunzler, a Red Cross international, joins the Colombian Ana Karina Olaya and the confirmed Rebecca Piva in the department: at 28 years old she has gained the right experience to give depth to the Butterflies’ attack.
1.89m tall Kunzler left Switzerland several seasons ago showing off in more competitive leagues like that German (First Vislbiburg, then Wiesbaden and Stuttgart), French (Mulhouse, Pays d’Aix) and finally Turkish (Nilüfer Belediyespor). In Germany she was nominated best spiker in the Bundesliga with Wiesbaden and has won the championship with Stuttgart.
If Kunzler’s sporting parable is in his prime years, Federica’s is nascent Pelloni, from Modena, not even 22 years old. For her, the 24-25 season will be the first in Serie A1: one reasoned bet of sports director Borruto and coach Caprara who will try to launch an athlete who has shone in A2. Pelloni played at Sassuolo three years (in between a period in B1 in Imola to gain experience) and last year at Offanengo. «I’m coming from seasons as a protagonist in A2 and I’m thrilled to think about A1: I know that I will grow on a personal level and I’m sure that we will achieve important team goals».
