Fabio Di Giannantonio comments positively on the race at Le Mans. The Italian ran half of the Grand Prix in the top positions, also finding himself in the fight for the podium. In the last laps he had a decline and crossed the finish line sixth, but in interviews he said he was satisfied with his performance.

About today’s race…

“Good race, until eleven laps from the end I overtook Aleix and I was going to take the first two, I felt good. Then I started to struggle with my right forearm because the bike has been very nervous all weekend, this made me feel it made me tire a lot. This made me lower the pace and Marquez and Vinales caught up with me. It’s a shame because we were really very strong, but we know it depends on several things, including the work with the team that we need to improve great margin for the next races”

On the difficulties with the motorbike…

“MotoGP is also about finding the right set-up that makes you ride as freely as possible. With the new parts that arrived in Jerez the bike has changed, it helps me with braking but is “bad” in cornering speed. we have to work a bit, we need a couple of races, but apart from that it was all there. We did a more than positive job this weekend.”

On the long lap penalty…

“Sometimes there is a bit of humanity in the rules, I went from being in front of the group to losing two positions and receiving a penalty which effectively made me lose another position. So basically I lost much more than I thought I gained by going long: on a human level, you can’t lose two positions if you lose two tenths. Even if there had been gravel I wouldn’t have lost that much, the long lap wasn’t adequate, but there is a rule which must be respected. Among other things, I also got a 300 euro fine in the pit lane yesterday…”

How do you see Barcelona?

“Barcelona is a crazy track, I like it a lot and it’s the first opportunity for us: it’s a race where you have to control grip and gas and manage the tyres. Last year when we had to manage we weren’t so bad. Watch out to the Aprilias who are very fast and also demonstrated it last year, but in my opinion we can be in the game”
