Debut worth remembering for the Spanish national team at the 12th FRW Baron, valid as Nations’ Cup Junior. The Iberian team won the opening team time trial. As a result of this result Adrià Pericas Capdevila wears the FRW Baron jersey as leader of the general classification.
The victory for Spain was decided with just 1″ of separation from the Treviso team Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita. Pericas, together with Hector Martinez Alvarez, Lopez de Goicoechea Gomez, Luis Alberto Rojas Lajarin covered the 19.10 km with departure and arrival in Pieve del Grappa (TV) in 24′ 37”, at an average of 46.554 km/h, distancing themselves by 1″ for Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita and 5″ for the Italian national team.
“The route was really interesting, with a challenging climb at the end,” said race leader Adrià Pericas Capdevila. «At halftime they told us that we had a handful of seconds to recover, so we tried to stay compact and give everything in the final. The margin of advantage over our rivals is negligible, so tomorrow we will have to defend ourselves or, why not, try to attack to win, after the Eroica, this other Italian race of the Nations’ Cup”.
Start set at 2.00 pm for the second and final stage in line on a circuit, similar to the last Italian category championship with a hilly route of 17.6 km to be repeated 7 times for a total of 123.5 km.
