777 Partners, what happens with the Standard? Salaries not paid, there is unrest in Liège

Today’s Belgian press gives ample space to the latest events regarding Standard Liège. The Belgian club – one of the companies in the 777 Partners galaxy – is going through a particularly complicated moment: the Liège club has not yet managed to pay the salaries for the month of April, but the situation seems to be even worse and for the players – writes ‘Hln .well – it has been said that the financial situation is very alarming. It is not certain that the club will be able to pay salaries between now and the end of the season and it is also possible that a new ban will arrive on the market regarding the next transfer window.

There is a lot of uncertainty among players and staff also because earlier this week it was learned that 777 Partners, the American investment company that owns Standard but also Genoa, is involved in numerous lawsuits in the United States. Not only that: by the end of April the former president Bruno Venanzi and the former investors should have been paid the second installment agreed upon at the time of the company’s transfer but this money – around 8.5 million euros – has not been seen.

The staff present at the Standard let it be known that there is no sporting plan for the future today: uncertainty reigns. And at the same time the first rumors begin to circulate about 777 Partners’ desire to sell the company.
