The new rules of MotoGPpublished by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation), will mainly influence the engine power which will be reduced and on aerodynamic component which will be decreased. The goal is to make racing safer, more sustainable and even more spectacular.

ENGINES

With the 2027 regulation, the engines they will go from a displacement of 1000cc to one of 850Always four stroke. The maximum diameter will go from 81 to 75 millimeters and this will result in a performance limitation. Furthermore, the maximum number of engines available to each driver will be reduced, going from seven to six. The engines would remain seven only in the event of a world championship with more than twenty races.

AERODYNAMICS AND LOWERS

From 2027 the aerodynamics will also be reduced and will be more controlled. The width of the upper part of the front fairing will be narrower by 50 mm and the nose will be set back by 50 mm, reducing aerodynamic effects on straights and in braking zones. At the rear, the aerodynamics behind the driver will be part of the homologation and teams will be allowed to update them once a season. All of this should lead to a increase in overtaking.

Not all devices will be allowed ride-height and holeshot for the height of the motorbikes.

FUEL AND GPS DATA

There MotoGP will run with a 100% sustainable fuel, increasing the 40% with which we currently run. The capacity of the tank will also be reduced, going from 22 to 20 liters in races, while in Sprints the drivers will be able to use 11 litres.

The GPS data of all drivers will be made available by all teams at the end of each session.

CONCESSIONS

The concession system introduced at the end of 2023 will remain in place but with some news. All manufacturers who raced in 2026 will start the 2027 season in rank Bwhile the new ones will start from rank D. There will then be a revaluation in the summer during which the houses will be able to move up or down in category to have access to more or fewer concessions.
