Runners from Bovese protagonists in the VI edition of the “6 hours of the North Park” in Cinisello Balsamo (Milan). Gianluca Coniglio and Matteo Pinna (Boves Run) challenged the best interpreters of very long distances on a 1.6km circuit to be repeated for six hours, finishing in fourth and thirty-second place respectively.

Around 200 athletes took part in the event organized by SC Atletica Libertas Sesto San Giovanni and which took place on the morning of Sunday 5 May. For long stretches the expert Coniglio cherished the dream of final victory. The workaholic of Bovesa running (national level ultramarathon runner) led the race for the first three hours and, despite a final decline, came close to the podium less than 200 meters away. 75,595 km traveled by the fifty-year-old from Bovesa compared to the 75,787 of the younger Eugenio Casadio.

First “very long” on the road for Matteo Pinna who, accustomed to ultra trails, did well on terrain that was not congenial to him. 62,660 km traveled by the runner born in 1996.

The final success went to Pierpaolo Bovenzi (Polisportiva Bellona Caserta) who covered 81.188 km ahead of the multiple long distance world champion Giorgio Calcaterra (Calcaterra Sport) capable of running 79.416 km in 6 hours.

Among the women, the leadership of Lorena Brusamento (Adda Running Team) was never in question as she completed 71,060 km, preventing a historic double for the athletes of the Polisportiva Bellona. In fact, Roberta Varricchione from Caserta had to settle for second place (68.844 km) ahead of Ilaria Orsini (Gruppo Podistico Tavazzano, 66.486 km).

“Unfortunately I suffered a mental crisis at the end – comments Coniglio -. I also had to stop and then regain my motivation and finish my test. The regret remains that the podium was definitely within reach. Now our minds turn to the key event of the season, the 100 km of Passatore scheduled for May 25th”.

“The race was very demanding – says Matteo Pinna -. The first three hours went by without any major problems. I then suffered cramps and stomach problems which forced me to slow down and stop at one point during the race. It was still an exciting experience.”
