05/05/2024 – The 2023/2024 Fiorini Pesaro Rugby championship ends with a defeat on the Tarvisium pitch. The hosts, fourth in the standings, won 43 to 12 against a Pesaro Rugby team lacking motivation. Among the highlights of the day were the debut of the young players Giacomo Tontini and Andrea Porcellini and the presence on the pitch of three pairs of brothers: Venturini, Tontini and Porcellini.
Pesaro started the match well and played in attack in the first few minutes, but a missed try and some bad decisions dampened the spirits of the Giallorossi Kiwis. Tarvisium cynically took advantage by scoring 5 tries and closing the first half 31-0.
In the second half the Giallorossi Kiwis appear more concentrated. The hosts scored two more tries but the Pesaro team responded with tries from Jaouhari and Giacomo Tontini. The second half thus ends with a score of 12 all, which however is not enough for Fiorini to bring home the points.
«The boys didn’t have much motivation, we arrived at the end of the championship tired and worn out. – Coach Paolo Panzieri’s comment at the end of the match – We no longer had much to ask of this championship. Games of this level without the right motivation are difficult to play. Among the positive notes certainly the goal of Giacomo Tontini on his debut in Serie A, and the debut of Andrea Porcellini. It’s always nice when kids who grew up in our academy get to play in the first team. In the last part of the championship we were in more difficulty, tiredness and ailments made themselves felt, but looking back at the finished season I can only be satisfied. It’s been a long year, we’ve come face to face with a different type of rugby and we’ve seen that we can do it. When we got going we won important matches and we asserted ourselves against all the teams. We certainly leave a good memory of Pesaro Rugby in the Veneto group.”
