Lamezia Terme – The yellow and blue team of Raffaele Lamezia B men’s volleyball team started off strong and put Reggio under control but then recovered and won 3-1. The Calabria derby was played at the Palacalafiore in Reggio between the local amaranths and Raffaele Lamezia.
The news: “The Lametini team, coming off 7 consecutive victories, played an excellent first set, putting Reggio in serious difficulty and closing 25-19. In the second set the yellow and blue march continued but at 16-12 the amaranth coach Polimeni played the Schifilliti card which proves to be successful, the Reggio Calabria team recovers the gap and takes the lead and then wins by 25-23. Raffaele Lamezia is nervous and tired and allows the hosts to win the scores at 19 and 14. This puts an end to the positive streak of victories, now head to the last match on Saturday at Palasparti against Bisignano.”
At the end of the match coach Torchia declared: “It’s a shame, we weren’t able to direct the match where we wanted and where we were taking it. We played 2 sets of a good level, of a high level in terms of ball exchange and counterattack numbers, even better than the top of the class But then we got too nervous and I didn’t like this at all, in fact not at all. The serve also dropped but in general we were not very reactive in getting back into the match a ball was seen touched by an opponent who perhaps put us at 2-0. However, compliments must be paid to the league leaders for the playoffs, they deserved them throughout the championship and rightly so. Now head to the last match with Bisignano, then it will be time to take stock.”
