Toprak Razgatlioglu wanted to abandon the MotoGP test with Yamaha.

About a year ago, Toprak Razgatlioglu had his second opportunity to test a MotoGP bike. It all happened in Jerez, after a test the previous summer that didn’t go well due to rain.

The 2023 test was seen as an opportunity for the rider to test the YZR-M1, but also to get some indications of what his performance might be like on a premier class machine. However, there were many problems… to the point that Razgatlioglu wanted to abandon the test early.

The 2021 World Superbike Champion revealed, as reported by motorsport-total.com, that his requests were not met: ‘Even before the test, there were discussions about the driving position. Normally, there are three different seats in Yamaha. But when I arrived for the test, the bike was the same as before. I was just doing my rounds. Also, I didn’t have many tires available‘.

After the events of the first day of testing, Razgatlioglu spoke to his manager, Kenan Sofuoglu, and did not want to return for the second day. However, his respect for Yamaha prevailed.

Despite the less than ideal experience with the Yamaha MotoGP bike, the current ROKiT BMW rider still feels grateful and privileged: ‘Every young driver has a dream. They want to ride a MotoGP bike sometime. I had the chance to have that experience, which makes me very happy‘.
