new fairing for him too

He didn’t win, but he got on the podium in the Sprint and took tenth place in the long race: for rookie Pedro Acosta the weekend in Jerez was useful for learning and growing. On Monday there was a test which further served him to get to know his RC16 better and work on those aspects necessary to be stronger. Even though he wasn’t at his best physically, due to the bad crash in Sunday morning’s warmup, he completed 75 laps. The GASGAS Tech3 team worked on the lowering and set-up of the bike. Furthermore, there was the opportunity to try the latest aerodynamic evolution produced by KTM, who also wanted his feedback. A clear sign of how much the Mattighofen house is counting on him and trusting his instructions.

MotoGP, Jerez test: Acosta’s comments

The two-time world champion promoted the work carried out yesterday in Andalusia: “We did many laps, tried many things, including a new hull and some details in the setting. In MotoGP, with some very small changes, you can gain a few tenths, so every improvement is positive. It was also important to do more laps here in Jerez, because we struggled a little more in some areas this weekend. The test allowed us to resolve the small problems we had. However, we ended the day with many positives and are ready for the next round at Le Mans“.

Acosta criticized himself after the Spanish Grand Prix, admitting that he had made mistakes that he must not repeat. He has a very mature approach. Even though he is aware of being a rookie and having a lot to learn, he doesn’t want to get certain things wrong. For example, the crash with which he destroyed his RC16 in the warmup in Jerez is included in the list. He doesn’t want pressure, but he has clear objectives and together with the GASGAS Tech3 team he is working to try to be in the group of the best in the next races at Le Mans, Barcelona and Mugello, a very important triptych of the season.
