Libertas, Italian Cup quarter-finals: today against Grottazzolina

The first leg of the quarter-finals of the A2 men’s volleyball Italian Cup will this afternoon pit Pool Libertas Cantù and Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina against Bernate at the Palafrancescucci in Casnate.

The opponent of the day is anything but a docile client to face. Grottazzolina, in fact, has just obtained promotion to the Super League by beating Emma Villas Siena and, therefore, will arrive on the lake shore with the wind in its sails, determined to continue on its cup journey.

The Canturini’s second libero, Matteo Picchio, describes well the climate that will be experienced starting from 6pm today on the Casnate pitch with Bernate: «It will certainly be a very difficult match – he says -. They have just won the championship and will be very excited. We will go out on the pitch to win it and try to get through to the next round. As always, we will give it our all, hoping they aren’t in great shape. Otherwise, it will be really hard.”

The passage to the round will be awarded over two matches; the return leg is scheduled for Sunday away and if there is a draw, qualification for the semi-finals will take place via the golden set.
