Seventeenth win in 21 games, the ninth away for the PuntoPack Barbarians of the Po took the field at “Lodigiani” Florence in the 21st round of the 2023/24 Serie B national championship. Opponent a Florence Rugby aggressive but was unable to stem the slow start by the coach’s Barbarians Paolo Bettati.
Despite a delay of around 40 minutes before kick-off due to the impossibility of the designated referee, who was then replaced by the young Tuscan referee Lorenzo Tamarri, the Barbarians maintained concentration throughout the 80 minutes, playing a beautiful game made up of multi-phases and changes of direction. The first half ends with a score of 5-31 for the Colornese Red and Whites. In the second half the rhythm is a little less but the Barbarians’ attack is still effective, in addition to the tries scored in the first half by Terzi, Manfrini, Pacchiani M. and Mordacci, in the second half Mordacci, Fusi, Ceresini and the Barbarian of the Match Edoardo Agnelli for the 55-5 final. The season debut for the forward is worth recording Guglielmo Allodi.
“It was an almost perfect match, well directed by the young referee Tamarri – he is keen to underline Bet yourself —. Despite the delay in the kick-off and the consequent postponement of the warm-up, the attitude was excellent for 80 minutes. The improvements since the beginning of the season are really evident.”
“Edoardo Agnelli performed excellently in the third line on his first opportunity as a starter and mostly out of role” adds Bettati.
The 22nd and final day of the Serie B championship is scheduled for Sunday 5 May at the HBS Stadium in Colorno, with PuntoPack Barbari del Po and Cus Siena on the pitch.
