Italy will make its debut in the 2024 women’s volleyball Nations League in Antalya (Türkiye). The adventure of the Italians in the prestigious international competition will start in Anatolian land, where the girls of coach Julio Velasco will be busy from 14 to 18 May. This is the first of three stages of the traveling event, at the end of which we will know the eight qualifications for the Final Eight which will award the title.
The tournament has enormous significance because at the end of the preliminary phase the FIVB ranking will be closed and we will know the last five admitted to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Italy is directly interested, given that it was unable to obtain the pass through the qualifying tournament held last year and therefore will have to resort to repechage through the international ranking, in which the Bel Paese is fortunately well placed.
Italy will make its debut on the day of Tuesday 14 May (7.00 pm Italian time) against Poland. Already a difficult task for our standard bearers, last year defeated by the red and whites in the match that put the pass to the Games at stake. Our national team will then return to the stage Thursday 16 May (1.00 pm) to face the mangy Germany and Friday 17 May (7.00 pm) for the match to be taken with a grain of salt against Bulgaria. Great closure Saturday 18 May (7.00 pm) when Italy will face Turkey: thrilling match against the Italian Champions led by coach Daniele Santarelli.
The next two away matches will be in Macao (China, 29 May-2 June) against France, Dominican Republic, Brazil, China and in Fukuoka (Japan, 11-16 June) against Canada, South Korea, USA, Serbia.
