Dan Carter takes sides: the legendary fly-half’s thoughts on the possibility of calling up New Zealand players who play abroad to the All Blacks are clear, he is with the New Zealand Federation, which at the moment does not allow this.

Dan Carter: “Calling up players abroad? The priority must be domestic rugby.”
This is what the two-time world champion expressed himself (in 2011 and 2015, ed.): “The choice of calling up players who play abroad? I don’t think it could possibly be something that changes immediately.”
Then Carter added: “Are you asking me about Mo’unga? For me he is one of the best number 10 in the world, now he is in Japan, he has made a life choice. I understand Robertson would like to have him back as soon as possible.”

Finally, on the All Blacks’ fly-half department, in general, he states: “There’s Mo’unga and then Beauden Barrett: everyone knows what he’s capable of and how strong he is. At the moment, however, I really like Damian McKenzie for what he is doing. It will be difficult, in the long run, to understand who will own the shirt.”
