MILAN – The celebration for the scudetto, it is to be believed, will last a long time yet, at least until May 19th when at San Siro, on the occasion of the last home match, Lautaro Martinez will raise the trophy for the championship won to the sky. A party in which President Steven Zhang did not physically take part, “blocked” in China since August; a party that the Nerazzurri number one risks spoiling in the coming weeks. On the night of the celebrations, in fact, all the Nerazzurri managers hoped to be able to maintain the current staff, thus managing not to sell any of the big names («the desire is to confirm everyone», Marotta’s declaration of intent; «we don’t want to cause any damage, when something works you have to be careful not to change too much», underlined by Ausilio).
Inter, the possible transfers
A difficult mission, bordering on the impossible. Not so much because Inter does not want to keep its big players – indeed, this will be Simone Inzaghi’s first request when he meets with managers to formalize his renewal until 2027 and take stock of the summer transfer market -, but because for their own economic situation, the company will not be able to oppose offers of a certain type. Or rather: Marotta and Ausilio would have no problem repelling the attacks as happened for example last summer when Onana and Brozovic were sacrificed, but they said “no” to Newcastle’s proposal for Barella, with the English in fact turning on Tonali. The problem is to be found in the ownership and therefore in Zhang: given the self-financing situation, it would be difficult not to take “indecent” offers into consideration as happened in the past with Hakimi or Lukaku (who wanted to leave, but if Inter hadn’t had budget problems, also linked to Covid, perhaps they would have opposed the Belgian’s request with different determination). If for example clubs like Manchester City, PSG or Real Madrid were to present themselves with a check for 80 million for one of Bastoni, Barella himself or Thuram, would the Nerazzurri managers have the strength to oppose? Difficult.
