Carcare follows the example of the municipality of Cairo Montenotte and closes the schools on the occasion of the passage of the Giro d’Italia, scheduled for May 7th. The ordinance was signed in recent days by mayor Rodolfo Mirri.

The stage in question, which goes from Acqui Terme to Andora, will cross some roads in the municipal area, including the Sp 29 and the Sp 28bis. The competent authorities have planned to adopt orders to close the roads involved, with a traffic ban at least two hours and thirty minutes before the passage of the athletes until their complete transit.

The passage of the “pink” race is expected between 1.39pm and 1.55pm, with the closure of the affected arteries starting from 11am. These limitations on these roads, already subject to intense traffic during school days, could cause inconvenience to school transport services and the distribution of meals.

The municipality made this decision considering the impact that a sporting event of this magnitude could have on local roads and the need to guarantee traffic safety and the safety of citizens.

Limiting the movements of pupils and school staff during the passage of the Giro d’Italia is therefore a precautionary measure adopted to protect the community.
