Isweb Avezzano Rugby, the A1 is nearby: an entire city to push the yellow and blacks

For Isweb Avezzano Rugby this Sunday there is only one objective: to win against Unicusano Livorno Rugby, within friendly walls, to ensure mathematical passage to A1.

A historic achievement for the yellow and blacks of president Seritti who, at the beginning of the season, had given his boys an ambitious objective: “We had finished last season with a fourth place, so the first objective was to reach third. Now, with the reform of the championships, being third is equivalent to a victory that we cannot let slip away”, he says to the capital Alessandro Seritti, president of Isweb Avezzano Rugby.

Six consecutive victories for the boys led by the head coach Vincenzo Troiani: the seventh would allow the historic passage to A1. “It was a challenging season, it couldn’t be otherwise in this category” admits Seritti. “We had a small decline between November and December, but the group reacted great and now we are fighting among the best”.

The password forIsweb Avezzano Rugby is without a doubt: group. “Yes, because if you create a strong group you can achieve results, rowing in the same direction. There have been many changes but fundamentally the core of our group, the hard core has always been the same: we have many guys who have been playing together for a long time and the new additions have certainly strengthened the team”.
With a particular look atterritorial balance: “Raising the bar, you don’t always manage to have players of a certain caliber within the club. If we played in a lower division, we could only achieve excellent results with the kids from the area. Playing in Serie A, however, the level is higher and native kids often give up sporting activity for study or work reasons. Despite this, we managed to create a squad of around 36 players, made up of boys born, raised and trained within the club, and others who come from other clubs or other local areas: we have Argentine and South African boys in the team, but who also come from Lazio, Sicily, L’Aquila. TO percentage level, we are 70 percent made up of guys who I define as Avezzano Rugbybecause they grew up with us and have embraced our project for some time, and 30 percent from other players who enrich our squad and make it even more competitive“.

There is undoubtedly one in that 70 percent Lorenzo Di Matteo, captain. “I started with the yellow and blacks when I was six years old: I started playing and now I’ve been at Avezzano rugby for 20 years, except for some periods in the national academy in Rome”. Lorenzo is the son of art – his father played for over 30 years for Avezzano Rugby, together with president Seritti – but he is also a product of nursery of Isweb, which is a flagship of the company. “A few days ago we had a tournament with over 400 cannarozzetti“jokes the president. This is how the little rugby players are called, who in Avezzano start playing with the oval ball when they attend nursery school: a term that also emerged during the episode of in which President Seritti was a guest precisely to talk about the importance of involving young people in sporting activities.
“Offering the opportunity to do sports to so many kids is a source of pride for us: they can have a base, a home where they can come and do sports. Maybe rugby won’t be their path, but in the meantime you’ve given them the chance to test themselves. This also allows us to pay attention to these guys and perhaps find those who can join our team and strengthen it over time.”

Returning to the match against Livorno, captain Di Matteo is excited: “The first part of the week was dedicated to physical recovery. We are now refining our preparation for Sunday’s match, from a physical and tactical point of view.
The opponent? A tough team, they’re playing for third place. He will want to come here to score points. But I have full faith in everyone, I have felt them excited for several days already.”

The A1 series is one step away also thanks to aanother fundamental piece of this puzzle: head coach Vincenzo Troiani. “Vincenzo has embraced the Avezzano Rugby project for years, he has demonstrated great skills and is a person on whom we count a lot” underlines the president. “He also personally invested in this project. It’s the week of the black and green colours, he was born as a player for L’Aquila and then transformed into a coach: but he is a man of sport, of ambition and who has put so much of himself into this team, which he has now led for more than five years. years. He believed in our project, considering it solid and valid: he supported us and certainly also provided that fundamental professionalism to achieve great goals, inculcating a different and winning mentality in the kids.”

Appointment on Sunday 28th at 3.30pm at the Trombetta stadium. President Seritti’s appeal: “Let’s fill the stadium: we have already started calling the city and the territory together for days. The stadium has almost always been full this season: we have a loyal audience but we want everyone to come and support the yellow and black colours. It will be a day of enthusiasm, of belonging, of territory. Come and enjoy a show and a day full of expectations!”
