L’AQUILA – The “L’Aquila celebrates rugby” initiative continues successfully, a week of events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the last championship, that of 1994, won by the Polisportiva L’Aquila Rugby. Today’s appointment, before the grand finale scheduled for tomorrow at the “Fattori” stadium and along Viale Gran Sasso, is at 4pm at the Park auditorium, to talk about communication, a fundamental sector of every sports company, a current topic that has become central to any business or sporting activity. The starting point will be precisely from what happened in the 1993-1994 season, during which the daily “story”, passionate journalists who were very attached to ovalball, allowed a very positive and increasingly euphoric climate to be built around the team and in the city, thus becoming also a tool to achieve important sporting goals. In the final phase of that championship the “Fattori” stadium hosted an average of 4 thousand people, up to 7 thousand spectators, for the third semi-final against Benetton Treviso as well as the over 4 thousand people of L’Aquila present at the final at the “Plebiscito” in Padua. “Branding and communication strategy” is the name of the event which features several national and local rugby journalists, commentators and writers.
THE TALK
Meanwhile, yesterday, again in the Park auditorium, “The rugby we want” took place, a talk to make a technical excursus on the evolution of oval ball from the nineties to today, with a vision of what rugby will be in the future. On stage the former black-green and championship winners, the South Africans Rob Louw (tricolor 1981), Danie Gerber and Wim Visser (the last two in 1994). All three returned to L’Aquila for the thirtieth anniversary of the scudetto. Also present was the icon Massimo Mascioletti who won the tricolor as a player and then as a coach in 1994 as well as Italrugby coach. Another welcome guest was Vincenzo Troiani, former black and green coach and coach of Aquila Rugby, who in addition to having been assistant coach of the Zebre franchise from 2012 to 2014, has a long career as a coach in the Aquila Rugby academy, with which he won an Under20 tricolor and with the Under 18 and 20 national teams. For 2 years he has been coach of Isweb Avezzano who will play against Livorno tomorrow, the decisive match to enter the A1 series next season, a result never achieved in the history of the Avezzano club . Meanwhile, the presence of Louw, Visser and Gerber made the many rugby fans in L’Aquila happy, as they left good memories not only for their exploits on the field. There are many people who wanted to take selfies with them. The three former neroverdi were also admired during the meeting with the schools: the children, despite their young age, knew their exploits and also enjoyed playing with them. In the meantime, you can visit the 1994 photographic exhibition on the Italian flag curated by Roberto Grillo and Marcello Spimpolo in the courtyard of Palazzo Margherita until tomorrow.
