The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is beautiful, light as a feather and reminiscent of an Apple Watch. Unbeatable value for money

When Huawei showed us the new Watch Fit 3 we were shocked. “Is it possible that a giant like Huawei still has to copy the design of the Apple Watch and cannot find its own way forward?”.

In reality, and we say this because many will see above all the photographs of this Huawei Watch Fit 3, in real life we are faced with a product which conveys a completely different sensation. The shape is similar, but perhaps more than the square body, the user interface, some dials and some tabs, such as the fitness rings, are reminiscent of Apple Watch, which are really similar to those of WatchOS.

There was very little that could be done: Huawei Watch Fit 2 was already square but narrow, Watch Fit 3 becomes slightly wider to provide more information on the screen and inevitably takes the shape of what is now the most popular smartwatch in the world.

There are no alternatives: either you make a round watch, but even the round ones are all similar, just look at the other Huawei Watches and those of its competitors, or you make it square and at that point it necessarily resembles the Apple Watch.

The Watch Fit 3 is thinner and lighter though, and compared to the Apple Watch you can’t feel it on you, especially when you sleep. Huawei has created what in our opinion risks being one of the most complete products with the best value for money on the market, and after a week of use we really struggle to find weak points in this Watch Fit 3, apart from the inability to use it for electronic payments.

Huawei has paid particular attention to the “style” aspect, and this is no small feat: it has played with the colours, for example our version has the red ring that stands out on the aluminum body, it has played with the straps, there are many types, and above all he took great care of the dials. There are no gaudy dials, they are almost all well designed and refined even in the details.

The possibility for many dials to have a true Always On Display which leaves the hands always visible, even in strong ambient light, is appreciable.

Although there are those who prefer to keep it off and call the time only with the movement of the wrist, we believe that having the hands always visible for a product that also plays on design is important, because the dial itself is part of the design of the watch.

The AOD in bright light is clearly visible

Despite the AOD the battery life remains super, it can be worn for a week, 24 hours a day. The display is a 1.82″ high definition AMOLED and is really bright and clearly visible in all conditions, and has automatic brightness adjustment that works with impeccable precision: it can be seen during the day on the beach and does not cause discomfort to the eyes. evening.

Compatible with iOS and Android, the Watch Fit 3 allows you to receive phone calls, manage the camera remotely (even on iPhone), receive notifications of all kinds and listen to music.

The part that Huawei has taken the most care of is that relating to fitness and health, it is no coincidence that it is called “Watch Fit”: it has an integrated tracker for managing calories suitable for those who have to take care of their diet, it has a suggestion system smart for workouts, it manages more than 100 types of activities with a GPS that has perhaps not perfect precision. Among the skyscrapers of Dubai, where Huawei announced the product, the track struggles to align with the road.

Huawei has updated the sensor platform: the TruSeen 5.5 uses a multi-channel module to read the heartbeat, is fast in measuring blood oxygenation and can also detect arrhythmias.

TruSleep has also been improved, with a sleep measurement that seemed really precise, within the limits of devices worn on the wrist.

As we said, Huawei has been very attentive to customization, and this means that each dial can be customized in terms of colors and complications but above all that the watch itself can be customized by changing the straps. There is a new quick release system that takes up less space, and this has allowed us to put a larger battery inside: the system allows you to use Huawei straps and, via two small modules, to also use standard straps.

In short, a proprietary format which however does not preclude the possibility of using standard straps.

All at an absolutely competitive price: the new Fit 3 is on sale from today on the Huawei Store at 159.00 euros for the nylon and fluoroelastomer version and 179.00 euros for the version with leather strap.

By purchasing it from 7 May to 18 June, Huawei is also giving away the FreeBuds SE worth 49 euros and a second strap.

At this price, with these features and with this flexibility in terms of design and customization it is really difficult to find an Android smartwatch on the market today that can compete with the Watch Fit 3.
