Basketball, Ruben Douglas has died. He was the hero of the Scudetto della Fortitudo

Shocking news has shocked the basketball world. Ruben Douglas died at the age of 44, the hero of Fortitudo’s second Scudetto died suddenly in Costa Rica due to a rare disease he had contracted in the Central American country where he lived.

Raised at the University of Arizona, he has lived practically his entire career in Europe. The first team was Panionios in Greece, then the move to Fortitudo Bologna in that unforgettable 2004-2005 season. It was his decisive shot at the end of game 4 against Milan, with the referees having to use instant replay for the first historic time to evaluate whether the shot had arrived in time.

In 2009, however, he was cut and returned to Italy where he signed with Lottomatica Roma (played 11 matches).

At the end of his career he returned to the United States, and then moved to live in Costa Rica, where today unfortunately the terrible news of his death arrived.
