It is the most beautiful and hottest period, not only seasonally speaking, of the sporting year: the playoffs for the 2023/2024 season officially open and the Sangiorgigines enter as fourth place, a historic achievement for the Mantua club.
The challenger of the red and whites will be Martina Treviso, ranked fifth in Group B with 32 points in the standings obtained from 16 victories, two less than MantovAgricoltura who collected 36 points in the regular season. The Treviso team are a team that combines youth and experience in a mix that must absolutely not be underestimated by coach Logallo’s girls who do not hide the fact that they would like to overcome this first phase of the quarterfinals.

Veronica Dell’Olio, red and white winger, spoke about the start of these playoffs with emotion and great pride for the entire road traveled to date: “We have finally arrived at the most beautiful part of the season, the one where we meet again in August, and so we work together building one brick at a time. – The post season was longed for and desired by Veronica and her teammates, a real objective achieved, with the support of the secret ingredient of the red and whites – “I’ll start by saying that in this playoff placement we strongly believed in it and wanted it, to say the It’s true that it took us a while to get it since, let’s not hide it, the first objective was to reach the Italian Cup. However, I think that ours has been a great journey, with its difficult moments, but always growing. And what we are now is something absolutely precious that we guard with care: a group of people with a capital P who have been able to fit together perfectly with their personalities. I strongly believe that this is our key, the value of our group.”

Martina Treviso, an unknown challenger for the Virgilians who should not be taken lightly and who, in her group, did not disfigure: “In these playoff quarter-finals we meet a team that in my opinion is very difficult. In fact, Treviso put many teams in their group in difficulty in the regular season, proving that they were equal to anyone. They are an excellent team that has always been able to adapt despite the injuries that prevented important players from playing the season.”

The ball will be raised at the Pala Sguaitzer at 5.30pm on Saturday 27 April and Veronica will be the spokesperson for a message coming from the Sangiorgino locker room: “We will take to the field on Saturday aware of our abilities, with confidence and without setting limits on the result.
Our sixth man, the public, will be fundamental… So we are waiting for you. 5.30pm. Sguaitzer Altarpiece. Everyone”. The live broadcast will be streamed on LBFTV and it will be necessary to subscribe to be able to follow all the Playoff challenges. More information is available on the Women’s Basketball League website. Entrance to the Pala Sguaitzer is free.
