CISTERNA DI LATINA – Cisterna Volley overturns the defeat of the first leg against Sir Susa Vim Perugia and, by also winning the Golden set, eliminates the Umbrian team and qualifies for the Final Eight of the Del Monte Junior League, the national volleyball tournament which awards the youth championship. The Cisterna team, led by coach Ronsini, thus joins the already qualified Monza, Trento, Padova and Civitanova, awaiting the return match between Modena and Verona and then getting to know the two teams that will qualify from the play-offs between the teams of Series A2 and A3.

«We knew it would be a difficult match, especially after the defeat in the first leg, and I can say that the boys took to the field concentrated and determined to win the victory and then aware that they had to play for qualification for the golden set – explains coach Francesco Ronsini, leading the team created in collaboration with Marino Pallavolo, a company with which Cisterna Volley has developed a project for the growth of the youth sector – We worked a lot on the details: our block made the difference especially in the crucial points of the first two set, then from the third set the difference between the two teams was seen more evidently and on the wave of enthusiasm, after closing the match with a peremptory 25-16, we started the golden set at full speed, immediately placing the break decisive (11-4). Perugia came back thanks to a slow serve that put us in difficulty but we did well not to lose concentration and ended the match to our advantage.”

The start of the game was, as often happens, quite balanced,
Very balanced match with Perugia maintaining the pace of the hosts: Cisterna is good at keeping calm and manages to win the set with the advantage 29-27. The second set is played along the lines of the first with Perugia trying but never managing to make the decisive break and the two teams always remain very close in score: Perugia, however, places a break and breaks away, growing up to 20-23 and the partial seems compromised but Cisterna manages to close the gap, impact and overcome the Perugia with 26-24 thanks to a remarkable blocking performance by central defender Chauan. Having won the second set, Cisterna plays free from worries and imposes a higher pace on the match. Perugia is unable to keep up and the match ends with a clear 25-16. At 3-0 the match is not over as the Golden set still needs to be played given the result of the first leg match. Cisterna is incisive with her serve and proves to have a truly convincing wall defense system. The decisive break brings Cisterna ahead 11-4, but Perugia manages to get closer with an important partial that allows them to get closer to 11-9. It was the last effort for the guests who, after the change of ball, were no longer able to make an impact and Cisterna closed 15-10, going through the round.
