Excellent debut for Lucia Bronzetti in the WTA 1000 in Madrid. The tennis player from Romagna qualified for the second round of the Spanish tournament after defeating the French Varvara Gracheva, number 91 in the world rankings, in two sets with a score of 6-3 6-3 after an hour and eleven minutes of play. With this success Bronzetti certainly gives himself a very fascinating challenge with the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, seeded number four and fresh winner of the Stuttgart tournament.

Bronzetti scored 75% of the points when he served the first, but it is above all with the second that you can see the difference between the two players. The Italian has an achievement percentage of 61%, while just 17% for the transalpine tennis player.

A match that immediately went well for Bronzetti. In fact, the Italian broke her opponent’s serve in the third game, then replying again in the fifth, taking the lead to 4-1. Gracheva manages to recover one of the two break deficits, but in the ninth game the Frenchwoman gives up again and Bronzetti ends the first half at 6-3.

In the second set there is certainly more balance and the trend of the service shifts is followed. There are no break points until the eighth game, when Bronzetti even gets three consecutively. The second one was enough for the Italian to break Gracheva’s serve and then close the set in the next game at 6-3.
