The new one has been inaugurated Sports Polo in Zone Saint Lazarusa facility that hosts outdoor multidisciplinary courts, including basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball or beach tennis.

“We have the best climate, we have three thousand hours of sunshine, we have this place that had to be sewn up, because it was abandoned – commented the mayor Claudio Scajola -. Everything is connected between the urban park, the tennis court, the sports hall and the swimming pool. Nearby there is also the cycle path that we will open in a few weeks, a recreational and tourist place that brings young people closer to outdoor sports. We made the bar, a meeting point for parents, the changing rooms, with excellent collaboration with the Imperia basketball who has taken over the management of the plant and will take care of its maintenance“.

“The city of Imperia once again proves to be a virtuous example from a sporting point of view, especially outdoor sports. We are in a city where, thanks to the climate, we can play outdoor sports all year round and giving sports associations the opportunity to train in these spaces is certainly positive“, adds the regional councilor Mabel Riolfo.

Created through the recovery of an abandoned area, the new Sports Center hosts outdoor multidisciplinary courts, including basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball or beach tennis and a training area set up with Calisthenics equipment. A rink for warming up or for roller skating has also been placed around the perimeter of the area. In addition to changing rooms and toilets, a bar structure with a warehouse underneath was also built, with a flat roof covered with photovoltaic panels, which will make the sports center almost independent from the point of energy needs.

The works for the construction of the new Sports Centre, worth approximately 750 thousand euros, are part of the “Recovery Imperia” intervention programme, for which the Municipal Administration won a 20 million PNRR tender from the Ministry of the Interior of euros for the construction of 11 works, completed or in progress.
