“The palm trees you see on the shirt are not those of Miami, but of Lido di Fermo”: words of the tourism councilor Annalisa Cerretani and the sports councilor Alberto Maria Scarfini in presenting the Beach Volleyball of the Czech Republic, which, for now a few days, he is stationed at the Fermo seaside resort. “Out of twenty years of activity in central Italy – declared councilor Scarfini – for Czech athletes, this is the ninth consecutive year on our beach. A month of training, to be repeated in September, which represents the opportunity to optimize the technical preparation for them, to deseasonalize tourism for us. They will have eight fields available on the stretch of free beach, of which four are equipped by the municipality (they will remain free to use during the summer, ed.) and the others by the chalets. Doppio Zero’ and ‘Tre Fratelli’: in addition to Asite for the great maintenance work carried out throughout the year, thanks go to the Vappelloni and Casturà families”. Representing a very popular sport in the central European country, 160 young people aged 14 to 25 will have the opportunity to train outdoors differently from what they are used to doing during the year in their countries due to the different climatic conditions .

“The boys will also be involved in international tournaments – explained Simone Sabbatini, president of Open Beach Marche which is based in Marina di Altidona – last Sunday for example, until late at night, 38 male and 20 female pairs competed: important numbers which make the area a point of reference for all Italian beach volleyball players and enthusiasts”.

Councilor Cerretani talks about the summer season around the corner, about the liveliness of the place where he lives and which he feels is even more ‘his’ since he started collaborating with his colleague three years ago, giving impetus to sports tourism thanks to the support of associations and private, such as the ‘Riva dei Pini’ village where young people are housed. “Lido Di Fermo is a second home for us – concluded Milos, head of the Czech sports delegation – to the competitive athletes who are already here, those from the youth sector will be added and, towards the final part of the stay, also the families. Here we we find it better than in any other part of the world: structures and hospitality have grown; with them, we too have grown from every point of view”.
