The Tour of the Alps ends with another explosive stage and to take home the final success is Juan Pedro Lopez. The action of two days ago was fundamental for the Iberian who managed the latest efforts in the best possible way and triumphed in the green jersey. The last stage, the one arriving in Levico Terme, went to the Transalpine Aurélien Paret-Peintre of the Decathlon AG2R The World Team.

Short and very intense stage, the breakaway didn’t go away in the first flat stages and therefore the battle started uphill. The first climb to Palù del Fersina saw the attack in pairs by Giulio Pellizzari (VF Group – Bardiani CSF – Faizanè) and Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers). Hugh Carthy (EF Education – EasyPost) then counterattacked, but the group didn’t leave too much space.

On the second climb to GPM Lidl-Trek and Bahrain-Victorious accelerated operations and the first to start was an excellent Antonio Tiberi. Good action for the Italian who gained about ten seconds, but was then joined by his rivals, with teammate Wout Poels attempting a solo run. Great defense for Juan Pedro Lopez who had no difficulty keeping his opponents at bay.

Long descent and then final with everyone grouped together. Restricted sprint to decide today’s victory, errors galore for Bahrain and to take advantage of it Aurélien Paret-Peintre who triumphs with a very long sprint in front of Tiberi, with third place for the other Paret-Peintre, Valentin. Also in the top-10 are Filippo Zana and Matteo Fabbro, sixth and eighth. For Tiberi the satisfaction of third place in the general classification and above all an excellent condition towards the Giro d’Italia.
