Bonucci, criticism of Fenerbahçe after the missed penalty

The former Juventus defender has become the target of criticism from fans: “Brother, it’s better if we don’t see each other for a while”

“You come for six months, relegated to the role of last choice in defence, you get two million and you miss the decisive penalty.” After last night’s penalty error against Olympiacos in the Conference League which resulted in elimination, Fenerbahçe fans are pinching Leonardo Bonucci on social networks. The former Juve defender, who moved to Istanbul in January after an uninspiring experience with Union Berlin, found himself the target of criticism from the Turks: on the one hand there is the anger of the Fenerbahçe fans, on the other taunted Galatasaray supporters.

COMMENTS

In the last few hours, Turkish X users have commented on Bonucci’s penalty. Expectations towards Leo were high, as confirmed by the reactions last night when he entered the pitch: “The penalty master Bonucci is preparing to enter the match”, wrote @SportsCubuklu on Twitter at half past eleven. Despite the subpar performance that characterized his adventure in Turkey (just 385 minutes played), the former Italy captain was christened as a qualifying man by coach Ismail Kartal: “I put him in because he is an excellent penalty taker.” A comment that has already turned into a real meme on social media. …

AND UNDER LEO’S POST

Bonucci, usually very active on Instagram, has not yet posted images of the match against Olympiacos. Therefore, Fenerbahçe fans decided to “let off steam” in the comments section of the latest photo of him, dating back to two days ago. The frustration is out in the open: “Brother, it’s better if we don’t see each other for a while”, “You killed us, friend”, “But didn’t you experience penalties with CR7?”, “Go home”, “You’re a former player.”

ALL AGAINST KARTAL

Bonucci’s face remains in the foreground of the photograph of the moment in which Fenerbahçe gave up on their Conference League dream. The anger of the fans and the criticism of the Turkish media, however, are mainly aimed at his coach. Considered guilty of the involution of the midfielders – Krunic and Zajc above all -, yesterday evening Kartal replaced the former United player Fred at a moment in which Fener could still push while seeking the 2-0. Furthermore, the coach would be found guilty of not having developed a precise tactic in view of the penalty shoot-out.
