Red Bull, Verstappen in difficulty: “We deserve this result”

Shanghai – The only ones capable of stopping Max Vestappen it’s the rain.. and the track limits. On the slippery Shanghai track, the Dutchman suffered the evolution of the track in Q1, where he placed himself in third position, with Perez in front, while in Q2 the order of things is re-established, while the rain begins to fall. The track thus becomes not only wet, but extremely slippery: the world champion himself is unable to hold his own RB20 on the track and there are several occasions where the car crosses the limits of the track. Deleting times in such conditions seems to be equivalent to shooting at the red cross, and the race direction does not spare Verstappen, who sees almost every attempt canceled. In the end he regains third place, which however becomes fourth when the management restores a canceled lap Lando Norris. For the first time this year Max will not start from first place in an official session, even if this time it is only the Sprint Race.

Verstappen: “I struggled to keep the car on the track, it felt like I was driving on ice”

“The track was incredibly slippery and I struggled a lot to keep the tires up to temperature, and therefore the car on the track. I was never able to feel the car, it felt like I was driving on ice, which is why I think we deserve this result in the Sprint Qualifying. The car didn’t work at all in the wet, while in the dry I was quite satisfied. Things don’t always go as we expect, but everyone will have little grip at the start due to the paint on the asphalt, so we will have to try to make the best possible start. It will be a long stint on one set of tires in the Sprint, but I expect an interesting race.”
