Matteo Arnaldi he provided a strong performance on the Catalan clay and qualified with great character to the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona. The Italian tennis player in fact outclassed the Argentine Marco Trungelliti in two very quick sets, imposing himself with a peremptory 6-3, 6-0 and thus earning the right to continue his adventure on the Iberian crushed brick. In the next round the Ligurian will face the Norwegian Casper Ruud.
Matteo Arnaldi can thus continue his climb up the ATP rankings. With the quarter-finals in Barcelona it is indeed moved up four positions in the virtual world rankings and is 36th with 1,191 points under his belt. By qualifying for the semi-finals he would even fly to 1,291 points and be virtually 32nd, but by accessing the final he would even reach 1,421 points and be virtually 26th, for the first time in his career in the top-30 (his best ranking is 35th place).
By raising the trophy to the sky he would reach 1,591 points and would be virtually 24th. Matteo Arnaldi aims to enter the top-32 to be sure of being seeded at Roland Garrosthe second Slam of the season scheduled in a month after the Masters 1000 in Madrid and the Italian Internationals.
