Fabio Quartararo he has just renewed his contract with Yamaha and therefore, although the M1 is not competitive, he is happy and motivated to continue the adventure.

Fabio spoke with Canal+, French TV, regarding the renewalalso referring to Marc Marquez. The Spaniard also spoke about Fabio.

Quartararo’s words

“It’s a moment that many people have been waiting for. My choice was to stay in Yamaha, for the project.” Fabio was asked if money was not important in this choice: “Let’s not kid ourselves”, was his sincere response.

In fact, there is talk of a renewal from 24 million euros in two yearsa figure that would make him the highest paid in the paddock: “I think I have a value as a rider and Yamaha knows this very well. For me it is an honor that a brand like Yamaha invests in me. I have been with them for several years. The main reason, of course, is the plan for the next few years. In economic terms, I think this had a minimal impact on what was taken into account in this contract.”

“I want to get back to the top with the brand that gave me the opportunity to change my career,” he added.

And about Marquez: “I think Marquez’s move from Honda to Ducati woke up a lot of people at Yamaha. They have brought in a lot of new engineers and there is a lot going on in Italy (the team’s home) and not in Japan. The speed with which parts can be changed has changed completely. For this reason I think it was very interesting for me to continue with Yamaha.”

On the possibility of changing bikes: “I perfectly understand that people have doubts about my choice, also because it was a few months ago I myself was really ready to go to another team.”

Marquez’s words

Marc Marquez commented on Quartararo’s renewal with Yamaha: “I’m not surprised that Quartararo remained at Yamaha. First of all because Yamaha is Yamaha and Honda is Honda. Sooner or later they will arrive. Many have made comparisons with my situation, but Fabio has much more time than me” said Marquez when speaking with Motorsport.com. The Spaniard has indeed 31 years old while Fabio turns one 25 on April 20th.

Marquez then referred to his team injuries: “Fabio didn’t go through a period like the one I went through, with a very serious injury that even led me to doubt myself. This is fundamental.”
