At CDA Talmassons FVG these are days of great celebrations, which will close a season that will remain etched in history. In fact, the Friulians have gained access to the women’s Serie A1 for the first time in their history, the first time for a volleyball club from Friuli Venezia Giulia since the A1 series was established in 1977.
After being welcomed and rewarded in the municipalities of Talmassons and Lignano Sabbiadoro, today the CDA Volley Talmassons FVG team and company were celebrated and rewarded in Trieste at the Palazzo della Regione, welcomed by the President of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga. As anticipated, the result achieved by coach Leonardo Barbieri’s girls marks a historic milestone for Friulian volleyball. No one had ever reached the top flight in this sport before, with the Pink Panthers managing to fill this void on their third attempt (after having stopped twice in the playoff semi-finals).
“The Board of Volley Talmassons has managed to achieve a historic goal for the entire region – says the President himself Massimiliano Fedriga – Something unique, no women’s volleyball team had ever reached this high before. My thanks go to the team, the staff and the entire club for this extraordinary journey. Bringing together the various individuals to make the group emerge, this was the great merit of Talmassons. The daily sacrifice and dedication to work have led to achieving a truly incredible result, which gives prestige to our region. You are an extraordinary example, your desire to win, to overcome every difficulty, every opponent led you to win promotion to A1.” The President then continues by underlining the importance and magnitude of the challenges that lie ahead in the top flight: “Now comes the best part, competing with very strong teams will be an exciting challenge. With this desire to be together and work as a team, I am sure that you will assert yourself even in the top category. I definitely want to come to the arena to shoot for you. Don’t think you were lucky because this is a deserved result. There is nothing fortuitous or casual, championships like this are the result of work and daily commitment. You truly embody the values of this region.”
Following up on Massimiliano Fedriga’s words also come those of Mauro BordinPresident of the Regional Council who underlines the extraordinary path experienced by Friulian society in these 30 years: “Talmassons’ promotion to A1 is a true sporting miracle. Starting from the bottom and reaching the top of national volleyball means having a perfect organization and never making wrong choices. I was present in the final, there was a crazy atmosphere in Latisana. The entire region has rallied around you. You have proudly represented Friuli Venezia Giulia throughout Italy. I want to thank you personally for what you have done. From the summer retreat in Sutrio to the playoff final in Latisana, yours is a victory born and raised in FVG”.
The spokesperson of the CDA Talmassons FVG is instead Fabrizio Cattelangeneral manager of the club, who proudly expresses the emotions experienced during the day: “Being received by the president of the Fedriga Region is a source of great pride for us. We have also confirmed our commitment in A1, we want to continue representing Fvg. We are already working to organize the next season. It will be something unique and unrepeatable, we can’t wait to face the great challenges that await us. We will do it with enthusiasm, without distorting what our project is.”
