Luca Marini is Valentino Rossi’s younger brother. Since 2024 he has been racing for Honda, after growing up in the top class in the VR46 team.
Luca Marini was born in Urbino on 10 August 1997. Son of Stefania Palma, mother of Valentino Rossi, and Massimo Marini, Luca decided to follow in his older brother’s footsteps at the age of 4. He managed to assert himself in the various minor categories in which he raced on minibikes, also making himself noticed by large manufacturers. In 2008 he participated in the Honda Junior Trophy, recording good results.
In 2011 he raced in the Italian MiniGP80 championship, winning 6 races and scoring as many pole positions. Luca Marini won the national title with two races to spare. He continued his career in the CIV Moto3, also competing with a wild card in the CEV. In the Italian speed championship and in the Spanish one he gained a lot of experiencebecoming the first Italian to get on the Moto2 podium of the Spanish speed championship.
He made his debut in the MotoGP world championship in the Moto3 class in the 2013 San Marino Grand Prix through a wild card. He found a way to repeat the same experience, two years later, in Moto2.
He managed to secure a contract for the following year, where he scored 34 total points. His best year came in 2020 with 3 wins and 3 second places, coming in second place in the middle class rankings. At that point he found a place in MotoGP, competing together with Enea Bastianini in the Esponsorama team.
In the following two years he raced for his older brother’s team, also taking a second place in Austin in 2023. He never took away the satisfaction of winning, like his former teammate Bezzecchi, a GP aboard the Ducati Desmosedici. He chose to continue his journey in Honda, replacing Marc Marquez in HRC. The results were below expectations because he received a RC213V that was technically terrible.
Maro’s girlfriend
In the Tavullia environment the centaur is called Maro. Luca Marini and Marta Vincenzi got married in 2023, in the parish church of Tavullia, with Valentino Rossi as best man. The beautiful Marta, entrepreneur and model, met the centaur at school and they have never been separated since.
Luca Marini’s salary
The current Honda HRC rider earned 350 thousand euros a year during his experience with Team Mooney VR46. He was among the lowest paid centaurs on the entire grid. He has signed a two-year contract with the Tokyo company and will have improved on the economic level, but not on the technical side. His salary in HRC has not officially emerged.

Luca Marini has quite extra-large measurements compared to the other riders in the top class. He weighs 68kg and is 1.84cm tall. The young man has to huddle a lot on the MotoGP prototypes. If on the Desmosedici he didn’t struggle particularly, on the Honda RC213V he almost seems to be in an unnatural position.

After getting married, Luca Marini has decided to sever the umbilical cord with his family on the track. He decided to close the chapter with the VR46 team to try to lift the most successful team in the history of the premier class from the bottom of the grid.
