When he speaks, they always listen to him. He is Alex Del Piero, Juventus icon of yesterday and today, the never forgotten captain that many – for years – have dreamed of seeing back in the club as a manager or president. Pinturicchio spoke on the official radio of the Serie A League to talk about Juve today and tomorrow and some of his opinions have shocked the fans a bit, in particular the words about Allegri.
For Del Piero, Allegri performed a miracle last year
Del Piero says: “Last year I praised the work of Allegri and the players because I think they performed a semi-miracle by managing to stay focused and finish well a season that had been surrounded by various situations at club level. This year different scenarios may open up, we have to wait. If the company has decided to continue working with the Mister it’s because he believes it. We cannot limit ourselves to evaluating and taking into consideration a specific thing, we must evaluate the season as a whole starting from the beginning of the championship when Juventus was fighting for the scudetto.”
“With the farewell to the Scudetto, after the direct clash with Inter and after a very negative period, I think there has been a total readjustment towards the objectives that Allegri has always tried to express: returning to the Champions League, launching the young people and perhaps fight for a trophy which is the Italian Cup. If you think about the last month and a half. there is certainly discouragement, but if Juve managed to win the Italian Cup we would speak with less disappointment of this season.”
Del Piero would give the no.10 shirt to Yildiz
Del Piero doesn’t even shy away from the question about Yildiz: “Among the youngsters I like the most is Kenan Yildiz, this year he showed something special. I would give him the number 10 shirt and remaining in the Juventus world I cannot fail to mention Miretti and Fagioli who, last year, did something incredible.”
Juve fans disagree with Pinturicchio
The reactions are pouring in: “Did you notice that Alex said: “If the club has decided to continue working with the Coach it’s because they believe in it.”? He didn’t use the past tense. Does he know anything?” and then: “There are those who go (definitely) and there are those who return (maybe)” and also: “Dear Alex three years of failures, we want to do three more?” or: “There’s no danger Ale, luckily it’s already been decided, Max is out”.
There are those who write: “Beautiful statements towards those who have won so much at Juve and who, after 10 years, WILL BE OUT OF IT FOREVER” and also: “But haven’t they understood it yet? Del Piero is the Boniperti of today! Immediately President Juventus“, or: “The product is always club-coach-players-fans…If the club has decided to continue with Allegri it is because it believes in it. We cannot limit ourselves to one thing: the season must be evaluated from the beginning when Juventus was fighting for the scudetto” and finally: “Del Piero is the first to criticize Allegri’s non-play. If it were up to him he would change his technical leadership.”
