Davide De Pretto he has already demonstrated that he has adapted well to the World Tour with an excellent start to the season as a neo-professional with the Jayco AlUla jersey. Ten top 10 placings with 20 days of racing and an excellent week at the recent Coppi&Bartali, in which the Vicenza native born in 2002 finished in fourth place overall.

Davide, not a bad start to the season…

“I am very happy and surprised by this start of the season, let’s hope to continue like this”.

Did you expect to already be at a level like the one you demonstrated in these first races?

“No, I didn’t expect to achieve so many results, even though I already felt I was feeling good during the training camps and then the results proved it.”

How did you prepare for this season?

“Differently from previous years. In December we were in Calpe for two weeks and there we did many hours on the bike, then at the beginning of January I returned to retreat in Denia for another fifteen days in which we did another training block, and then immediately started the season at Ruta de la Ceramica”.

From Zalf to Jayco AlUla. What were the first sensations on the World Tour?

“It’s certainly nice to join the World Tour, which is the cycling of the greats. The organization in the team is of a completely different level, in addition to the fact of always being followed by the staff in every little detail, from nutrition to details on the bike.”

What will your next appointments be?

“Indurain GP, Basque Country, Flèche Walloon and Liège-Bastogne-Liège”

Have you had any races in your sights?

“I would have liked to win a stage at Coppi and Bartali and I came close, now I’m thinking of Liège, as an Under23 I came third, but clearly the game is getting tougher now, the mileage is longer and the opponents are stronger. Let’s hope we can be the protagonist, as always I will give my best.”

You also raced cyclocross. How important was it for you?

“Quite important to learn how to ride the bike, as well as greater safety and explosiveness and this pays off today in the group. Cyclocross also gives you good condition for long-duration efforts. It was an important parenthesis.”

What is your secret dream?

“For now, win among the professionals and then I would like to participate in a Grand Tour. For this year, at the moment, they are not scheduled.”
