Let’s remember that the owned by Dorna is distributed as follows: Bridgepoint (40% of the shares) and the Canadian Pension Fund (CPPIB, 38%). The remaining 22% is shared between Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO, who has managed it since 1992, and a small group of managers. Dorna’s headquarters are in Madrid.

Sales. In 2022 Dorna Sports generated revenues of 474.8 million, with an increase of 33% compared to the previous year, although the year ended with a loss of 7.8 million euros due to the impact of the pandemic. Also in 2022, Dorna refinanced 975 million of debt, a move that allowed it to strengthen its liquidity, and also paid dividends of 390 million to its shareholders.

For its part, Liberty Media has turned the tables in just a few years perception of F1: it is now a very popular sport, especially in the USA. The goal of the new owners is to replicate these successes with MotoGP. We await developments (and official status).
