Petrachi: “A bit of luck doesn’t hurt. Objective in January? Don’t do damage”

Between the transfer market and objectives, the Torino sporting director explains the guidelines for next month…

“A wish for 2026? To maintain this concentration, this desire, this sense of belonging that the boys have shown me since I arrived. I would like them to continue on this path, because it can bring us something beautiful”. So Gianluca Petrachi before the match between Turin and Cagliari on DAZN. The new-old Granata sports director had the opportunity to delve into, in addition to the issues related to yesterday’s match, Saturday 27 December, at the Olimpico Grande Torino, also some aspects of the January transfer market…

Petrachi on the transfer market: “It’s difficult in January. Let’s hope for some opportunities”

“The January transfer market is a very difficult market: the best ones keep them”underlined the former sporting director of Rome and Salernitana, who then reiterated a fundamental concept: “If you can seize opportunities, you’ll seize them”. It’s all about opportunities. In such a particular market session as the repair session, Petrachi set some limits, including that of limiting possible errors: “My point of view is this: try to make as few mistakes as possible and do as little damage as possible. If there are opportunities to improve what we have, we will be ready. Conversely, we need to face reality and think that the January market is too particular and difficult. I realize how many difficulties there are, but if something were to arrive for which Torino could improve, we will be ready”. Then, teased by DAZN, the Torino sporting director did not want to name names – the interested parties were Marianucci, Barbieri, Pisilli and Prati – but he outlined the path that Torino will be able to follow in the next month: “I won’t name names and I haven’t given any. You try and you’re good (laughs, ed.). When the lists open we’ll see what Toro will be able to do. I hope to also have a bit of luck and some opportunities that perhaps come out at the last minute: those are the most important things”.
