Another dry match at the Pala Barbazza in San Donà di Piave, which brings the consecutive sets lost by Negrini CTE Acqui Terme to twelve. The Venetian team in which the former player from Acqui Filippo Garra plays, fresh from four consecutive defeats, returns to success precisely at the expense of the Acqui team who, given the ambitions at the beginning of the season, would never have imagined finishing the first round so badly. Disappointment and anger for president Stefano Negrini.
First set
The first set is very balanced. The first attempt to reach is Acquese, with Silver who tries to advance at 5-3, but the score returns to parity at 6-6. Peter puts Negrini CTE back on top again at 10-8, but there is still a lead at 12. A back and forth follows in which San Donà tries to place the break, promptly canceled out by Argenta. It’s 20-20 Claw to get things even again. A double wall of Cavasin gives the set point to the hosts, but Petras cancels it twice. With the advantages, a point from Cavasin and an error from Argenta lead to the closure of the partial in favor of the locals.
Second set
Sprint start for Acqui in the second set, which immediately leads to 1-4 thanks to Petras ed Esposito. Frederick brings the Venetians closer (from 6-3 to 6-5), but an empty serve from Garra keeps the thermal team ahead. The score, however, is reversed: Marzorati and Cavasin – the latter protagonist from nine meters – go from 8-6 to 8-10, with the break ending on an error by Argenta. Petras shortens, then an attacking error by Fedrici and hits by Esposito and Argenta bring the advantage back to Acqui’s side (11-13). A ball out of Bang and a point from Cavasin restore the balance, but Petras and Argenta keep La Bollente ahead (14-16). Fedrici once again grabs the equalizer for the Venetians. After a back and forth, an error from Argenta and points from Fedrici and Marzorati make the breakthrough (21-17). Argenta e Sarasino they halve the deficit, but Cavasin and Fedrici immediately make up ground. Cavasin wins the set point: Fedrici fails the first attempt, but then Cunial closes the accounts.
Third set
In the third set the match is close for the first four rallies, then an error by Carpita and a ball from Cavasin, inside for a very short time, put Personal Time in command at 6-4. Fedrici increases the lead to 8-5, but the real crisis for the guests arrives shortly after: Marzorati, Bellucci and Fedrici lead the hosts to 13-7. At 20-14, Argenta and Carpita launch the chase, halving the gap. San Donà remains ahead, but Acqui Terme doesn’t give up: an invasion, an attack by Carpita and a wall by Sarasino bring the spa team to -2. Cavasin, however, makes no mistake, wins the match point and definitively closes the match.

The president takes the floor at the end of the match Stefano Negrini: “From today our championship, despite all expectations, has the objective of salvation. 12 sets lost and 0 won in 4 matches, 5 defeats in the last 6 matches leave no doubt that the coach has completely lost control of the situation. Players who by all accounts are strong, watching them play seem scared, incapable of playing and confused. And this despite the team having strengthened compared to last year. I expect our coach to resign”
