The actor, guest of «Domenica In», talks about the effects of his illness in 2018: «I can see a film five times, without knowing I have already seen it»
For an actor, who must remember lines and scripts, memory is a serious thing. Marco Bocci lost part of his due to a serious brain infectioncontracted in 2018. «It took me a long time to remember things. A part of memory has returnedthe other is lost forever. What struck the actor and director, today in the miniseries If I were you alongside his wife Laura Chiatti, it was herpes simplex virus type 1. The virus caused inflammation of the brain, compromising the memory and behavior of the Umbrian artistborn in 1978. «It didn’t affect my work at all», he commented ironically while speaking to Mara Venier. «I can even watch a movie five times without knowing I’ve already seen it. I’ve learned to live with it.”
The experience of the disease, which forced him into a long convalescence, changed him, he explained. «I was lucky, today I appreciate everything to the fullest. I like living in the present. I wasn’t like this before. I have changed, I live everything without making plans and programs. It’s less tiring, I enjoy every moment».
During the interview on the Rai Uno program he also spoke about his relationship with Laura Chiatti, which has lasted for eleven years (the two married in 2014 and have two children, Enea and Pablo) despite the newspapers often talking about a crisis between them. “Let’s keep saying it, it’s good luck,” he joked. Remembering that there really were difficult moments for the couple: Marco Bocci and Laura Chiatti got married after just two weeks of love and the day after the wedding the actress wanted to divorce. But the crisis is over. And Bocci remembers this well.
