The increase in the monthly contribution for working mothers with more than two children, a modification of the ISEE which will allow greater access to social and municipal services, the bonus for school books and for private schools, a fund to help separated parents in renting a new home, the refinancing of the “dedicated to you” card intended for the poorest, resources to create summer centers for children and the elderly. These are some of the measures dedicated to families contained in the Budget law now towards the final goal in the Chamber.
Working mothers bonus
Among the chapters with the most funds there is the bonus in favor of working mothers. However, they must have at least two children and an annual ISEE income that does not exceed 40 thousand euros: the age of the youngest cannot exceed 10 years but, if you have three or more children, the threshold rises to 18 years. The contribution is increased and in 2026 it goes from 40 to 60 euros per month. In terms of the budget, this is one of the largest interventions: it alone is worth 630 million. Contribution exemption for up to 24 months is also provided for the hiring of workers with at least three children.
Leaves and ISEE change
Among the innovations introduced also the expansion of optional parental leave up to the child’s 14 years of age and the doubling of sick leave for children from 5 to 10 days. The ISEE calculation mechanisms change in a favorable direction for families, taking into account the number of children. Furthermore, the value of the first home which is not considered in the calculation rises: it rises from the current 52,500 euros to 91,500 euros, a value that further increases up to 120 thousand euros for families residing in the capital municipalities of the 14 Italian metropolitan cities.
Card Dedicated to you and Inclusion Check
The refinancing of the Fund for the purchase of basic food items to be used through the “Dedicated to you” card is worth 500 million. Some changes are also planned for the inclusion allowance. Currently after receiving it for 18 months there is a break of one month before you can request it for another year. The maneuver canceled the month of suspension, even if in the first month of renewal the amount is halved.
School and university chapter
The school chapter contains two interventions for families with an ISEE of up to 30 thousand euros. The first is an annual bonus of up to 1,500 euros for each student who attends a private lower secondary school or the first two years of a private secondary school. However, decreasing brackets are foreseen as income increases. The second aid is the allocation of 30 thousand euros for a bonus to help purchase school books. There are also new resources for the Erasmus fund to activate scholarships for university students who participate in these exchanges.
