There is already a viable candidate for The Game Awards 2026

Dispatch is not out of the running at The Game Awardsat least not completely. The revelation indie title of 2025, which arrived too close to the close of voting to really be able to play its cards, will be eligible for The Game Awards 2026. A second possibility which, however, leaves open a question that is anything but trivial: will anyone remember?

In 2025 there was a lot of talk about “snubs”, games ignored or underestimated by the jury. Amidst this noise, only one title seemed untouchable: Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33capable of winning awards and acclaim. Dispatch, however, remained on the margins, with only one nomination as Best Debut Indiedespite the enormous impact it had on critics and audiences.

He explained the situation Pierre Shorettelead writer at Dispatch, in an interview with Eurogamer. The problem, according to him, was purely temporal. “We had only delivered half the game when voting started”he said, underlining how the nomination received came from people who had only played part of the experience.

A recognition that, seen like this, almost takes on greater weight. But the bitterness remains for a missed opportunity. “It was a sad day when the nominations came out”Shorette admitted. Hope, however, is not dead: Geoff Keighley has reportedly confirmed that Dispatch will be able to compete in 2026.

And this is where the most disillusioned sentence comes in: “I don’t know if… anyone will care”. A legitimate doubt, in an industry that consumes successes at an impressive speed. Between new releases, new viral phenomena and the gigantic shadow of Grand Theft Auto VI ready to fall next year, remaining in the collective memory is a very tough challenge.

Dispatch will have a second chance. Now it remains to be seen whether the public will still be there, ready to listen to her. In the meantime, catch up on our rich review that you can find here.
