“I have always hoped, even at a European level, that the old barriers between the alternative forces to the left would disappear – the Prime Minister underlines – and it seems to me that in France too we are going in this direction. For the first time, Le Pen’s party had allies already in the first round (Marion Maréchal and the former leader of the Républicain Eric Ciotti) and for the first time it seems to me that the Républicain are also inclined not to participate in the so-called ‘republican front’. I say this because I notice something that in different forms also happens in Italy: the constant attempt to demonize and corner the people who do not vote for the left.
