There is fear and anger among the citizens of Piana Del Sole, an area of Rome shocked by the latest arrest of Simone Borgese on charges of having raped a 26-year-old student, lured by deception to the bus stop, and already known for previous crimes of sexual violence. The investigating judge ordered the 39-year-old to be placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure to avoid possible relapses, even though the prosecutors had requested prison due to previous crimes. «We don’t want that between us. And the inhabitants of the neighborhood, who more or less all know each other, say they are outraged by the fact that Borgese was placed under house arrest instead of being locked up in prison. The girlfriend and the teenage daughter
From the stories of those who live in Piana Del Sole it emerges that Borgese had been reinstated in the neighborhood, after his release from prison, thanks to his girlfriend, with whom he has a teenage daughter: «She grew up here, she never bothered anyone. She works here. She told us that she had changed and that she was a sensitive person. She wanted to redeem him. If she hadn’t been there he would have had to leave immediately,” says a man. Meanwhile, her relatives deny everything: “We don’t know who belongs to her, go away.” But there are many stories from those who, once Borgese was released from prison, often met him. «I saw him a few days ago. After he was released from prison, Simone occasionally came to work with us. He was a laborer. He was strange, sometimes he would freeze. You can’t say he’s normal. He was obsessed with girls. He said: look, I would never go with a girl younger than my daughter. Thinking about it gives me shivers”, reports a resident.
