Bari, the alleged murderer of the physiotherapist Di Giacomo arrested

The police arrested and took a person to prison in Canosa di Puglia (Bari): They are held responsible for planning and carrying out the murder of the 63-year-old physiotherapist Mauro Di Giacomo, who was fatally shot on the evening of Monday 18 December 2023 in a car park not far from his home in via Tauro, in the Poggiofranco district of Bari.

The reconstruction of the murder

Di Giacomo had been hit not only by bullets but also by blunt objects and for this reason some fractures were found on his body. The physiotherapist would first have had a violent argument with his killer which would have triggered a physical attack and then, while trying to escape, he had been injured with numerous gunshots fired both from close range and as he was walking away. The 63-year-old died at the scene from hemorrhagic shock. No further details had emerged from the investigation until today’s arrest. The only lead examined by the investigators seemed to be that of personal revenge.

Who is the alleged killer

According to what emerged from the investigation, Di Giacomo’s alleged murderer is a 59-year-old construction worker with no criminal record. The motive for the murder would be some grudges linked to alleged injuries that the physiotherapist would have caused to one of the daughters of the suspect who, in 2020, had filed a civil lawsuit against the victim for professional liability, accusing him of having caused her permanent personal injuries in occasion of a session dating back to 2019. Di Giacomo, who appeared during the trial, had denied his responsibility as well as having declared himself available for any form of settlement. The incident would have caused the suspect to arouse hatred and resentment towards the physiotherapist until, on the evening of 18 December, after some inspections, the worker completed his purpose.
